Luke 23:41-43 “We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”
Jesus hung on the cross, along with two robbers, one on each side of Him. The one robber rebuked the other robber, then said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”
In His moment of anguish, Jesus gave that robber grace, in His own anguish. That robber acknowledged his own sins, the other robber did not. The one believed in the afterlife, the other did not.
While in agony and pain, Jesus granted the request of the repentant thief, giving him comfort. This gives all believers knowledge, hope, faith, and trust that they too will be saved.
Revelation 2:7 “Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.”
